6/01/2010 Grievance for Former CWA Members on Long Term Disability

In November, 2008, Eddie Hicks filed a grievance because Embarq said former employees receiving long-term disability benefits would begin paying a portion of their medical, prescription drug and dental coverage. This was a violation of the Group Long-Term Disability Plan that states the employe contribution would be waived.

CWA District 3 has said they will not be arbitrating this grievance. Eddie Hicks has written a letter of objection. We were advised in writing that this grievance would be arbitrated and we told the membership. The District should not tell any Local that an issue will be arbitrated until they are certain.
